Overview
Most transient phenomena require fast reaction of follow-up obsveratories and observers. Complementing the display of the smartphone notifications distributed by Astro-COLIBRI, the platform allows to integrate with smart-home devices since version v2.18.0. This allows to trigger visual alerts in many setups and configurations, ranging from observatory control rooms to waking up burst advocates and astronomers. At this stage, Astro-COLIBRI integrates seemlessly with the HUE system proposed by Philips. We note that Astro-COLIBRI has no relation (commercial or otherwise) with Philips. The Hue system comprises an API that is running on a central device called Hue bridge and which allows for a relatively easy implementation of our alert architecture. But we are eager to know about another (possibly non-proprietary) smart-home systems with similar functionalities. Feel free to contact us! Below, we show a few devices that work nicely with this current configuration. An minimal smart-home setup is comprised of a Hue bridge and at least one connected light. Below you find a Philips Hue Starter Kit as well as a portable light called Hue Go that you can take with you when observing outside. Obviously other Hue compatible lights should work as well.
